I love to make yarn. In fact, today, I can’t imagine my life without my spinning wheels. When I first started to spin yarn, I felt like I had discovered something magical. I knew spinning yarn was a craft I needed to have in my life!
It wasn’t all smooth sailing though. I made so many mistakes in the beginning of my yarn spinning adventure that sometimes I got so frustrated I actually thought about selling my spinning wheels!
Sure, I could call my lumpy and uneven yarn “rustic” but it wasn’t the yarn I really wanted to make. I dreamed about making yarn intentionally for specific projects. I wanted to make lace for shawls, chunky yarn for cozy sweaters, and textured yarn for wall hangings. However, the yarn I made when I started spinning was something that accidentally happened to spin up while I was at my spinning wheel. And worse yet, I didn’t know what to do with it. I didn’t give up though (and you shouldn’t either!). I was determined and I persevered!
I’ve been spinning for over a decade now. My perseverance and practice has paid off. I’ve used my own hand spun to make hats, gloves, wall hangings, rugs, scarves, shawls, sweaters, cardigans and more! I’ve used handspun yarn to knit, weave, embroider, sew, and more. You can check out some of my projects on my Instagram.
Eventually I thought, I should make spinning videos to help other people learn how to spin too! That is when the JillianEve YouTube channel and blog was born. I’m always on a fiber journey to learn and experience more of the amazing craft of spinning and working with yarn. Want to join me?
Welcome fiber friend! Check out the blog to follow along with my current projects, check out my YouTube channel for tutorials and project videos, join my Patreon for even more spinning content, and enjoy the detailed lessons and workshops in the JillianEve store. Let’s make yarn together!
